Enjoy your life

October 2, 2008

Hey,

I'm gonna change gears a bit this week.

We always get caught up in the "doings" that make up our
lives.

Sometimes stopping, closing our mouths, and opening our
ears can bring forth a huge moment of clarity.

I want to share with you a paragraph that I found in the
online training log of an american powerlifter named
Kristin Yukeness.

"I ran into a friend of mine at work, yesterday and wanted
to share his story and mantra. He was shot multiple times
in the line of duty and is now teaching down here. He and I
had a long talk about life and death, and the choices made
along the way. By all intents he is one of the most
positive people I have ever met. Even when being asked if
allergic to anything during post-shooting hospital triage,
he responded, "Yes, bullets." He reminded me that life is
not about what happens to us, but how we respond to it, and
with what internal drive we have. He also reminded me that
we have to make a conscious choice whether or not to seek
happiness, and that attitude is everything. I told him
about being terribly upset over my string of injuries and
personal life sadness, and he told me to focus on the
positives. I retorted that it positively was not that
simple. He snapped back that it was... Noting that when you
cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice, and
that I may not be able to control what others do or say,
but that I can certainly choose how I react to it. He
sternly told me that the bottom line was that it was our
choice how we lived life during the short time we are
given. With a wink, and a slap delivered to my shoulder, he
put his helmet on and drove off on his Harley. Knowing him,
he had to go eat fire or hang glide or something... LOL. Go
train and live the life you have dreamed.

The message here is outstanding.

And the part that really brought me to put this attitude
into my life was the fact that I have been told before that
"every situation is a choice", but my ears weren't open
enough to make it stick. I was probably too busy thinking
about what I wanted to say next instead of listening to the
message.

I hope you can apply this to your life for the better.

I know I'm going to try.

See you at the gym.
