Never stop learning
June 3, 2008
Hey, Well, did you get to check out the A-channel morning show on Friday? Does the camera really add 10lbs? (Since I'm trying to gain weight that could be a good thing haha) The TV segement was fun, and so was the Strongman Competition that it was promoting. I'm happy to say I won the competition and have added another trophy to the mantle. After the competition, I went out for a meal with a few friends and fellow competitors that I don't see too often. One person person at dinner, my friend Jordan is a very well educated guy. He's a phy-ed teacher/strength coach/rugby coach. I really enjoy sitting down and dicussing training with Jordan. We usually first discuss the focus of our own training before moving on to working with athletes and Personal Training clients. I always come away with new ideas, and improvements on old ones, and I hope Jordan takes something beneficial away also. I sometimes take it for gratuit that I have such great resources available to me for training and nutrition advice and info. There is a lot of bad info out there, along with the good stuff, so you have to be careful who you listen to. I know that not only is the information that I trade with Jordan well researched, it's also been put to the test in the gym by him or by someone else he works with. I live by the mantra, "Never Stop Learning". When you think you know it all, you are falling behind. Not only do I spend a considerable amount of time reading, researching, and picking the brains of the best, I also put new ideas to the test by trying them out on myself, my training partners and my wife Sarah. Enough about me. You are probably wondering what all this has to do with you. Well first of all, it should motivate you to try and learn something new about health and fitness. Whether it be from a book, a newsletter or by talking to Sarah and I at the gym. And secondly it should motivate you to try out this new found knowledge in the gym. I don't know how many times people ask me for advice, and I give them my opinion and tell them what I know, only to have them go back to doing the same old crap they were doing in the first place. So take action. That's how you get success. Stay Strong Paulv
