Fat or Carbs???

So which one do think is a bigger diet pit-fall? Fat, or
Carbs?

Before you make your decision, let me share with you, some
of the facts.

Fat contains 9 calories per gram
Carbs contain 4 calories per gram

So right out of the gate, carbs start to look like a better
choice. I know that many people have it drilled into their
thought process that fats should be avoided at all cost.

Carbohydrates, in my opinion are the biggest factor in a
succesful diet.

I am not a "low carb" or "no carb" advocate, but feel that
they have to be "timed" perfectly, if a nutrition plan is
to be succesful.

Carbs elevate our blood sugar, in turn causing an elevated
level of insulin to be produced in the body.

Insulin is a very powerful anabolic hormone within our
bodies, but it's job isn't to build muscle, it helps our
body store fat.

To achieve a lean physique, it's important that we keep our
blood sugar/insulin levels at a steady level.

To do this we must limit the carbohydrate intake at times
of rest. ie: only eat carbs after you have been training
intensely.

Fat on the other hand has gotten a bad rap.

Yes it is very high in calories, so we have to eat smaller
quantities. But if we completely limit our bodies dietary
intake of fats, the body will do it's best to "hang on" to
our fat stores.

Small amounts of fat in the nutrition plan, are very
necessary for success.
